» Installation guidelines and best practices for system components including PV modules, charge controllers, inverter, batteries and battery monitoring

» System start-up, operation & maintenance plus installation & operational safety


Workshop Presenters

The workshop will be led by Josh Bills, CEM, Energy Efficient Enterprises Program Coordinator at the Mountain Association for Community Economic Development (MACED) and Jerry Bogie, M.E. The presenters will offer instruction, answer questions and guide the installation. They will also share personal lessons learned from starting a solar installation business, discuss the benefits of NABCEP certification and the process for becoming certified as well as provide information on federal, state & regional incentives and financing options for renewable energy systems. The workshop is being hosted by Clear Creek Creative with technical support provided by MACED (www.maced.org).


Accreditation & Requirements

Attendees will get 16 NABCEP training hours that can be used toward applying for NABCEP certification. For existing NABCEP PV Installation Professionals, Continuing Education credit approval is pending (call or email for update). If approved, attendees will get 16 NABCEP training hours that can be used toward renewing for NABCEP certification.


Registration & Logistics

We will be in northern Rockcastle County about 10 miles southeast of Berea, Kentucky. The workshop fee is $200 for the two days and reduced rates and scholarships are available. Registration is limited so participants can get maximum hands-on experience—we encourage you to register by Friday, December 9. On-site camping Thursday and Friday night is available and we will provide lunch on Friday and Saturday as well as all the cool water you can drink from our natural spring. Other lodging options are available in the region.
