The open house tour of Heart and Soul Farm features a solar PV-powered irrigation system installed by Earth Tools, Inc. of Owenton, Kentucky. The irrigation system uses a 590 watt solar PV array to power a submersible pump in an old well. Water from the well is pumped uphill to a 2,000 gallon cistern. Water from the cistern is then fed by gravity downhill to the garden.
